House - Framing Day : December 2007 - Frame Raising Day. This is when we raised the timber frame portion of our house (the great room and deck). It was exciting for us - even though it was cold and miserable. All the frame pieces were there and the whole frame went up during this day. We invited friends to come watch (we had hoped that there would have been more opportunity for people to participate, but it didn't turn out that way). We had warm cider and some chili to help with the cold. We did have a chance to hammer a couple of the pegs in ourselves and by the end of the day the house was really taking shape.

House - Excavation : Excavation began last fall. Things changed very fast and we hated cutting down trees. However, we were able to keep the tree loss down to a minimum. Some of the fir trees we used in the building of the house, the madrone we will use as fire wood next winter and the madrone bowls went to a local artisan who is going to make us someting.
